Click ‘N Cook: recipes from what’s already in the pantry

A recipe site with a custom ingredient-based search engine, built for one of the largest food banks on the East Coast.

The Greater Boston Food Bank is one of the largest food banks on the East Coast. GBFB asked us to design and build a new kind of recipe website: one that finds recipes based on everyday ingredients you already have.

Originally intended to help food pantry customers make the most of their ingredients, the concept became a hit with families of all kinds, helping them turn what they have on hand into healthy, delicious meals.

We built a custom ingredient-based search engine in WordPress, with rules that rank recipes by ingredient hierarchy and order. Faceted filtering narrows results by ingredient, recipe type and dietary needs.

An educational section draws organic traffic and teaches users about nutrition, cooking and what’s in season.
